Description

These artifacts excavated at Geumjochong in Yangsan are regarded as very important source materials for the study of funerary culture and the types of tombs that developed in Silla in the area around Yangsan. A comparison with the gold earrings and bracelets unearthed at the Silla tombs in Gyeongju suggests that these artifacts were made in the sixth century. The value of the tomb and the artifacts are widely appreciated for the discovery of, among other important relics, a pair of bird's feet made of gold, as such items have not been found anywhere else in Korea to date. Other discoveries, such as a pair of gold bracelets with outside serrations, silver buckles and openwork belt ornaments, and a long-handled bronze pot with lid with a knob in the shape of a bird, are equally impressive as they are the only examples discovered outside Gyeongju so far.
