Description
This celadon vessel is a brush rack, one of the most favored ceramic stationery items, along with the ink bottle and water dropper, among literati artists of Goryeo. This particular item is characterized by a rectangular body topped with a pair of dragon heads at each end, elaborate decorative designs applied with refined carving techniques, and an attractive jade-blue surface. It is considered a great masterpiece due to its rarity, the creative forms of the body and ornamental parts, the fine glazing, and the use of a variety of techniques including openwork, incising, relief carving and iron painting.
