Description
This certrificate was sent by King Seonjo to SIN Yeoryang in 1604 to notify him of his promotion from a Grade-3 to a Grade-4 official in recognition of his meritorious service in the Imjin War. The document is considered worthy of designation as a national cultural heritage in view of the fact that the official in question fought alongside Admiral YI Sunsin during the Japanese invasion of Korea (1592-1598), and also because most of the king’s messages to meritorious retainers issued up until the eighteenth century have already been designated as national cultural heritages.
