Description
The Printing Woodblocks for Bulseol daebo bumo eunjunggyeong(Sakyamuni’s Teaching on Parental Love), Korean Translation are engraved based on the same sutra interpreted by O Eungseong in 1545. The thirteen plates of the woodblock for the Sutra on the Profound Love of Parents (translated into Korean) currently kept at Sesimsa Temple were remade at Sinsimsa Temple in Dongnimsan, Asan, Chungcheongnam-do in 1563 (the 18th year of the reign of King Myeongjong), but they lack O Eungseong’s epilogue. As the oldest extant copies of the said work (translated into Korean), they are precious materials that provide a wealth of information on the status of woodblocks used to print Buddhist Scriptures translated into Korean before the Imjin War (1592-1598).
