Description
The Printing Woodblocks for Saddharmapundarika Sutra(The Lotus Sutra) (111 pieces; kept at Gaesimsa Temple, Seosan, Chungcheongnam-do) was re-engraved at Bowonsa Temple at Gaya Mountain, Chungcheong-do in 1565 based on the copy of Lotus Sutra which was neatly handcopied by Seong Dalsaeng in 1443 and then kept at Hwaamsa Temple in Gosan, Jeolla province, as stated in the epilogue written by Monk Hyeneung. Although one plate (Chapters 41-44) is missing, it is one of only two surviving woodblocks of the Lotus Sutra - along with the one kept at Jeondeungsa Temple, Ganghwado Island - among those made by SEONG Dalsaeng before the Imjin War, making it a rare and extremely precious artifact.
