Description

These are the remains from the Paleolithic Age in Hantangang River and Imjingang River region where another Archaeological Site in Jeongok-ri, Yeoncheon has been found. The Paleolithic Age refers to the long period from the advent of humankind to around 10,000 years ago. Several Paleolithic remains have been found in Korea since 1963. The investigative research on these remains revealed that they were about 40,000 to 50,000 years old, and that the remains were larger than other average remains. A number of large and small stone relics have been unearthed from these remains including hand axes, scrapers, choppers made of broken stone, and double-trimmed stone tools. These remains give clues for research on the processing procedure of stone tools from the Paleolithic Age. They are also regarded as very important remains and are located in Jeongok-ri for research on the Paleolithic Age of Northeastern Asia.
