Description
Machilus grows in warm regions such as Jejudo and Ulleungdo Islands. Distributed in Japan, Taiwan, and Southern China, it grows along the coast. Its bark and fruit are used as medicinal agent. As it has a beautiful outlook, the tree is used as garden tree, park tree, and windbreak. The Machilus grows on the cliffs in the coast and there are about 132 Machilus trees measuring 4meters in height along the 200m street and many bamboo trees and spindle trees as well as a kind of ivy grow with the trees. Since Gyeokpo-ri in Buan is the Population of Machilus where the tree can grow, it is designated and protected as a natural monument.
