Description
"Bower actinidia is a kind of vine. The oval leaves of this tree come out in spring and fall in autumn. This tree blooms 3 ~ 10 white flowers in May. Its fruits ripen in October, and Koreans enjoy eating this delicious fruit. This tree grows in China, Japan, and Korea. In Korea in particular, it grows deep in the mountain or on fertile land. The Bower actinidia in Changdeokgung Palace is about 600 years old, with height of 19m and girth of 15~18cm. Five or six thick branches of this tree spread toward all directions. This tree grows beside Daebodan Altar in Changdeokgung Palace. It is peculiar that the branches of this tree are growing alone without any support to entangle. The Bower actinidia in Changdeokgung Palace seems to be here before this palace was built. This has been preserved by Korean ancestors' care and concern. Therefore, it is designated and conserved as a Natural Monument, serving as historical data for biological research."
