Description
"Muku trees grow in warm places of the western coastal areas. They are strong against sea winds, so they play the role of windbreak in the coastal areas. The muku tree of Eosan-ri, Jangheung is about 400 years old, with height of 24m and girth of 6.4m. It stands on an unoccupied ground at the front of the town and has a lot of knots in its branches. At a height of 2m from the bottom, the branch is divided into two spread widely. There are vestiges of a swing. The trunk shapes like well-developed muscles. There has been a belief among the villagers that the full blossom of all the leaves of this tree foretells good harvest of the year. The muku tree of Eosan-ri, Jangheung has been under our ancestors' care and protection and is also biologically valuable. Therefore, it is designated and protected as a Natural Monument."
