Description
Sangaenari (Forsythia saxatilis Nakai) is short, and has a stem which is not distinctive from the other parts. It is generally 1-2m tall. The twig is purple, changing into grey-brown within two years. The size of a leaf is 2-6cm. The foreside of the leaf is green with no hair, but the back of the leaf is light green with fine hair. The flower is light yellow, blooms earlier than the leaf between March and April. About 230 entities are densely growing in the Colony of Deokcheon-ri, Imsil. The Population of Sangaenari in Deokcheon-ri, Imsil is a southernmost habitat where the plant can grow and is very valuable in science. Moreover, to protect sangaenari (Forsythia saxatilis Nakai), this stock is designated and protected as a Natural Monument to prevent further damages.
