Description
The Ginkgo Trees of Myeoncheon, Dangjin are a couple of gingko trees, one male and one female, located in the grounds of the ancient Myeoncheon Elementary School. One tree is 20m tall and has a girth of 6.1m, while the other is 19m tall with a girth of 6.2m. A legendary story about General Bok Ji-gyeom, who rendered distinguished services for the country when Taejo Wang Geon united Korea to establish the Goryeo Dynasty, and his daughter Yeongnang, are passed down in the region. The Ginkgo Trees of Myeoncheon, Dangjin are regarded as a valuable natural monument due to their historical, cultural, and folkloric importance.
