These ancient documents and books have been preserved by the head house of the family of Gwon Ju, who was a civil official during the reigns of King Seongjong and King Yeonsangun. There are 14 items in 9 types, including 7 documents in 4 types and 7 books in 5 types. The documents consist of the royal edict that announced the passing of the state examination written before the 15th ~ 16th century, document received by Gwon Ju when he was a governor in Cheongju, document that contained the offering of a benefit to the governor, and record of property inheritance. The books consist of Dongbangnok, which gathered the literary works of people who passed the government exam in Seonggyungwan and who passed the primary state examination only, and Gyeongsucheop and Seonse suchal, which are collections of letters written by Gwon Ju. The sizes differed depending on the year and contents. The documents, written before the 15th ~ 16th century, contributed to the study of the economic history of the time, whereas the books are valuable in studying life at that time. In particular, the books written by Gwon Ju carry great calligraphic styles; hence their value as cultural heritage.
