Ksitigarbha pranidhana Sutra tells of how Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva made great vows to rescue sentient beings. This book was published at Hwaamsa Temple in Wanju, Jeollanam-do in 1453 (first year of the reign of King Danjong of the Joseon Dynasty); the text was handwritten by Gongam, and the printing woodblocks were engraved by Buddhist monk Uimyeong. Three volumes were bound into one book, which measures 17 cm wide and 28.5 cm long. The names of the persons participating in the publication and supporters were recorded at the end of Volume 1. In this book, the Chinese character “jang (丈)” was used to mark the number of pages in each volume, showing the page indication method during the early Joseon Dynasty.
