Description
This sutra contains good Buddhist theories and teachings on how to put them to practice. It is a crucial text for those being trained to be a monk. This book is one with Monk Zongmi of the Tang Dynasty of China. Printed on mulberry paper out of the wood block, it was originally intended to be made as a scroll but was turned into a book with 10 lines in each page. It measures 34㎝ by 19.8㎝. It follows the form of a wood block-printed book like the Supplementary Tripitaka Korean published based on diverse books written by many monks during the Goryeo Period (918-1392). The technique and letter styles used for the wood block are similar to those of Avatamsaka Sutra (Treasure No. 891). This volume is presumed to be one of those printed out of the wood block originally made in the Song Dynasty of China during the Goryeo Period (918-1392). Its printing state shows that it was probably not the first material printed out of the original wood block.
