Nearly 1,000 ancient documents have been preserved at the head house of the Yean Branch of Gwangsan Kim’s Clan for more than 600 years; among them, 429 items in 7 types were collectively designated as Treasure. The state-designated documents include 82 royal and official edicts, certificates of appointment, and 43 transcripts of household registrations, all of which show the general state of the period. The four official documents issued by the Ministry of Rites recognized the adoption of a son. Moreover, there are 91 petitions, 45 records of property inheritance, 154 records of transactions, and 100 documents about family weddings. These documents from the late Goryeo Period to the Korean Empire are regarded as precious historical documents since they show the politics, economy, society, and family system of that time.
