Description
This book is a collection of literary works by Yi Jip (pen-name: Dunchon, 1314-1387), a scholar and civil official during the late Goryeo Dynasty, and was published in the 10th year of the reign of King Taejong (1410) of the Joseon Dynasty. It consists of two volumes in one book. Yi Jip passed the national examination during the reign of King Chungmok of Goryeo. He was famous for his writing talent and unyielding noble beliefs and principles. The resentment harbored by Sin Don toward him prompted him to escape to Yeongcheon. Upon Sin Don’s death in 1371, he returned to Gaegyeong and later moved to Yeoju and spent his remaining days writing poems in Cheonnyeong-hyeon, Yeoju. Ha Ryun (1347-1416) wrote the preface of this book, which states the background of publishing this book, the relation with Ha Ryun and three loyalists (called Sameun) of late Goryeo and who resisted Yi Seong-gye, and a description of Yi Jip's character and academic caliber. The preface suggests that the prominent figures of that time had disregarded the age gap and had associated with each other in studies. This book was published during the early Joseon Dynasty and is considered a valuable material in studying bibliography.
