Description
This medicine book was published in the 20th year of the reign of King Seongjong of the Joseon Dynasty (1489). Consisting of 8 volumes in 8 books, it is the most comprehensive book on emergency treatments at that time. It classifies diseases into 127 types such as stroke and headache and suggests treatments accordingly. This volume was printed in the Eulhae-ja typeface. The seal of the owner, Kim Bu-ryun (pen-name: Seorwoldang, 1531-1598), indicates that the volume was published in the 16th century. As a rare medicine book translated into Hangeul, it is considered a very valuable material in studying the Korean language as well as Korean traditional medicine.
