Description
This diary kept by Yu Hui-chun (1513-1577) covers the period between October 1567 and May 1577 (the 1st to 10th year of the reign of King Seonjo). Recorded accurately and in detail is a wide range of public events of the period as well as private matters. Yu was a noted Confucian scholar during the reign of Kings Myeongjong and Seonjo and served as the Keeper of the Royal Papers and Counselor to the king for many years. Miam was his pseudonym. This diary is a valuable material for the study of political, social and literary history of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910). It was used as a material for the Annals of the Reign of King Seonjo. Out of the original 14 volumes 11 remain today. Poems by his wife and miscellaneous records are also attached to the diary.
