Description
This object measures 1.2m (H), 2.7m (diameter), and 3-10㎝ (T) and has circumference of 10.8m. The wall is around 3-5cm thick, and the total weight is estimated to be 20 tons. The mouth is rounded at the edges, with an everted projecting rim. The style and structure are very simple, devoid of decorations on the body. Since there are no records inscribed on its body, the production date, manufacturer, and casting method are unknown. Nonetheless, the fact that it is a huge-sized object cast in iron, which has a much higher melting point than bronze, makes it a valuable artifact in terms of its casting technique. The cauldron is believed to have been made when Beopjusa Temple used to wield considerable influence. It is a very rare object of its kind found in the country and has been preserved very well.
