Description

Volumes 3-5 of Samguk yusa (Memorabilia of the Three Kingdoms) were bound into this one book, as the first 10 pages of volume 3, and pages 18 to 31 of volume 5 (23 pages in total) are missing. Its cover was restored and the five-hole woven with a red thread was used for the title page. This book was kept by Choe Nam-seon (pen-name: Yukdang), and was later donated to Korea University. This book was taken out from the edition published in Gyeongju in 1512 (the 7th year of the reign of King Jungjong of the Joseon Dynasty), which is the most widely used edition in current academic circles. The book belongs to the copy withdrawn relatively early among other extant copies of the Jeongdeok Edition of Samguk yusa, and has value as the bibliography of the Jeongdeok Edition (also known as the Imshin Edition of King Jungjong). In particular, this nook is the only copy of the Jeongdeok Edition to include Korean endings on the Chinese characters.
