Description

This is one of the twin pagodas which stood in front of Hangwangsa Temple. Three pagoda stories are erected on a one-floor base. On the top, there remains only the supporting stone which used to support the top ornamentation. On the main body stone, a pillar-shaped pattern is carved on the four corners, while the bases are carved in the center and the four corners. The roof stone has a four-story base, and the sides of the eaves are slightly curved. This pagoda is believed to have built in the 9th century, in the Unified Silla period. It follows the pattern of the traditional stone pagoda style of that period, where the roof and the body for each story was actually carved in one piece.
