Description
This book titled Yeongga Jingakdaesa jeungdoga (Song of Enlightenment) contains a seven-character poem written by Yungjia Xuanjue (647-713), a Seon master of Tang, about the eternal truth he obtained through a meeting with the Sixth Patriarch of the Chinese school of Chan Buddhism Huineng (638-713). The book, which also contains notes on the poem by different commentators, is known to have been printed using the middle and small scripts of the Eulhae Types between 1455 and 1494. The book has been preserved in very good condition with its original cover mounting and title slip. Both paper and printing exhibit very high quality, and constitute a fine example of the Buddhist scriptures published exclusively for Joseon royalty during the 15th century.
