Description
This porcelain vessel from the early Joseon Dynasty was used as a water or liquor bottle. It is 23 cm tall. The two sides of this bottle are flat, and the curled mouth and the oval base give it a light feeling. The flat sides are inlaid with a peony leaf design surrounded by two circles at the edge. It is believed to have been made in a tile-kiln in the area of Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do. Compared to products of the Goryeo Dynasty, it is larger and has a simpler design. It shows the pattern of inlaid white porcelain of early Joseon. The flattened bottle has a bold design, and is a rare style for that period.
