Description

The Ardhasatika Prajnaparamita Sutra was translated into Chinese by the great translator Shihu (fl. 980) of the Northern Song period. In the sutra, the path of Buddhist practitioners is explicated by the discourse of the three Vajras (Vajra Body, Vajra Speech and Vajra Mind), which is presented in a Vajrayana style focusing on various mysterious merits represented by the actions, words and thoughts of the Buddhas. The postscript at the end of the book reveals that it was printed in 1002. The book is widely regarded as a valuable source of knowledge on the First Koreana Tripitaka in that it was originally contained in Sinpyeon jejonggyojang chongnok (Newly Compiled Comprehensive Record of the Canonical Works of All Schools) published by State Preceptor Daegak (a.k.a. Uicheon) in 1087, and was added to the First Tripitaka Koreana at a later date.
