Description
These two gold-line illustrations drawn on the front and rear surfaces of a lacquered wooden plaque by an artist named No Yeong in 1307 show Amitabha Buddha attended by eight bodhisattvas and Dharmodgata Bodhisattva being worshipped by King Taejo (r. 918-943) of Goryeo at Baejae Pass on Geumgangsan Mountain. The use of clear outlines, serrated projections and needle-leaved trees in the Dharmodgata painting reflects the influence of the Li-Guo School of Northern Song and is regarded as an important clue to our understanding of Goryeo landscape paintings.
