Brahmajala Sutra (Sutra of Brahma’s Net) encourages people to exploit the potential characteristics of Buddha in themselves and recommends repenting of 10 kinds of heavy sins and 48 light sins and enhancing the goodness in them. This book holds the interpretation of Monk Hyein about the Brahmajala Sutra translated by Kumarajiva of the Later Qin Dynasty. The texts were inscribed on the woodblock and printed on mulberry paper. With the intention of printing it in a scroll, the original woodblocks were engraved with 24 lines but were divided into two; every 12 lines were printed on mulberry paper to form a book measuring 27cm long and 16cm wide. This book is presumed to have been published based on the original edition from the Yuan Dynasty of China, since it has a preface written by Guo Tianxi of the Yuan Dynasty in 1298. Though the exact date of publication is unknown following the loss of the record on the last part of the book, it is presumed to have been published during the Goryeo Period.
