Description
This prunus vase from the Goryeo Dynasty has height of 38.9 cm, mouth diameter of 5.1 cm, and base diameter of 15.6 cm. It is a typical prunus vase from the Goryeo Dynasty whose body is fully swollen at the shoulder and narrowed downward. The short, slim neck goes well with the small, flat mouth. The fair-sized plum blossoms and bamboo branches are inlaid in black and white on both front and back of the body. An ascending bird, crane, as well as grass are placed between the trees. The surface of the vase is coated with clear light blue and green glaze and covered with minute cracks. This is an attractive piece of art with a picturesque inlaid design of birds, plum, and bamboo, matching well with the celadon glaze.
