Description
Mahavaipulya purnabudha Sutra (Complete Enlightenment Sutra) constitutes the basic curriculum for the monastic education of Korean Buddhist monks. Buddhist Monk Zongmi of the Tang Dynasty of China added explanatory notes to this sutra, which was carved on woodblocks to be printed on mulberry paper. Each page was tied with thread and covered by different paper. Measuring 19 cm wide and 34.2 cm long, this book has a style identical to that of Volume 1 and Part 2, Volume 1 of this sutra, designated as Treasure Nos. 893 and 938, respectively. Thus, it is presumed to be a publication made with Goryeo woodblocks engraved based on the ones from the Song Dynasty, although the exact date of publication is unknown.
